It's time for FTSF, simply click the button above and behold the list of entrants and the super awesome hosts.. This week's sentence is When I was younger, I wanted to.. I wanted to travel the USA, if there was a way to avoid the mountains. Those curvy roads and steep drop offs leave me hanging onto the oh crap handle of the car for dear life. I wanted to make it as a singer.. I wanted to be a psychologist specializing in victims of sexual assault and abuse. I wanted to have lots of land … [Read more...]

Last week of school keeps me jumping

IF

So this week has been a full one to say the least. Along with me looking for a job outside the home to help with bills and the like it is also the last week of school here in our area. This of course means a week of awards banquets, field days, parties and tons of other stuff. We had a band banquet the other night, and my son was very hurt by the fact that he did not get any type of acknowledgement. While SOME of the juniors got a letter, he did not. That part I disagreed with, lettering when I … [Read more...]

Everyone loves a parade… small town gatherings

IF

So despite Sunday being a hard day for me on Saturday we got to take punkin tail to his first real live parade. I could not wait to see his reactions to all the lights and noise and the like, because you know we are small town so our emergency vehicles are automatically part of every parade. So we loaded up Brody's stroller and all the kids and headed for town.. He loved it. I was surprised that the noises and sirens didn't startle him but they didn't. He watched it all like a pro and that he … [Read more...]

Mothers Day without your mother here…

mom dvd0055

I realize that today is Mother's Day. I also realize that I am a mother, and a grandmother now. But somehow it seems surreal to me. This is my second Mother's Day since my mother passed away and it doesn't get any easier. I realize there is so much more I needed her here for, like the birth of my first grandchild. A cousin of ours recently lost his wife, well its been about the same time Mom has been gone. He remarried and the other day had his first child. I can remember when he got married to … [Read more...]

There’s a snake in my Tub !!! Or how I nearly went into labor at 6 months

Many moons ago, when I was pregnant with our last child *yes we knew he was our last because Daddy got the snip while I was pregnant* I apparently had an issue with wild animals. The post from the ladies on Dose of Reality lead me to post about this incident, despite the fact it still makes me shiver. I was about 6 months pregnant and my best friend and I had been watching the movie 'Cleopatra'. You know the last installment where she kills herself by allowing a King Cobra to bite her. We … [Read more...]

Dear Mike Jefferies.. to be catering to the ‘beautiful people’ you sure are not one of them

Have you seen the uproar in the media.. Mike Jefferies, the CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch has openly admitted they will NOT carry anything over a size 10 in their stores, simply because that is too fat to fit HIS image of beautiful. Ummm seriously?? Mr. Jefferies, I am a mom. I have never been a size 10, nor would I want one of my kids to be that small simply to fit into your overpriced line of apparel. Unlike you were apparently raised, my children have been taught they are no better … [Read more...]

Missing a friend and more

I know I have been basically invisible in the last week. Lots of things have been going on, some I can talk about on here and some I cannot. The one I can is my friend Renee went back to Australia. With her smile and laughter and adorable accent no longer behind me as we worked on our computers together I realized how quiet my days can be. Taking her to the airport we talked as if she wasn't really leaving. Cracking jokes at the counters about turning around and finding a place to hide … [Read more...]

WEdnesday Hodgepodge with From this side of the Pond

1.  This week's Hodgepodge is Volume 123.  What's something you've done recently that was as easy as 1-2-3? Sleeping. As in getting kids on the bus and falling out cold in my computer chair. I am not even certain I made it to 2 before I was snoring. It is called mental and physical exhaustion 2.  The Wednesday Hodgepodge also happens to fall on the first day of May ...what is something you may do this month?  Get flowers set out in the yard, get some bills paid, find a job … [Read more...]

Totally Random Tuesdays with Stacy Uncorked…

Grab the button and play along. Toss all the things that are completely random together for one blog post. It has been a rough month. Really rough. As in even with every dime we had to borrow to get some bills paid. As in I am going to  a food bank today to get the stuff to make it through the week. It sucks. I have some prospects for online work but finding something outside the home has been hard. No place is really hiring and if they are they only want the teeny boppers who want summer … [Read more...]

Mondays are my arch enemy…

Jesse Prom 2013 edited2

A whirlwind weekend has left me drained and exhausted. Rainy weather isn't helping the mood. So when I saw this new carnival I thought why not.. Hosted by ModMom it is titled simply enough.. I don't like Mondays.. Easy enough right.. I mean we can all agree that Mondays are not really anyone's favorite day of the week, because well it is Monday after all. Things just seem to irritate more on today. Things like Martha Stewart is in her 70's people!! How flipping wrong is that?? Or the … [Read more...]
