It’s my favorite time of the week. Friday. Where I can spew all of the crap that is my life here, for you all to read, shake your head at and click your tongue thinking “wow”.
I saw an ecard this week that described my life perfectly.
I couldn’t. Take this last week for instance. On Friday night we were at Jesse’s parent’s night at the football game. Meaning I had to get dressed up and so did Gene to walk the field with him.
Do you know what amazed me the most? The fact that the football players parents came in well street clothes and some even less. The majority of them did not even make an effort to dress up. I was left at a loss because for me parent’s night is a chance for your child to present you to everyone else. Why would you NOT want to look your best for your child? Especially when they are taking pictures of you with your child?I was so proud to be part of the band walk, most of us dressed up for the occasion and I know that had to make our kids feel good.
We had some real good friends come with us so they could use my camera and get pics of it all.
So that went without a hitch and that is where things began to completely fall apart.
After the march we returned to the bleachers and my cell phone rang. My sister called me and said they were taking my other sister to the ER. She has been sick for a while but in the last week she had become violently ill. I had tried to tell her to get in to the doctor and get her gall bladder checked. Well she wanted to wait until her next appointment. She didn’t make it. After numerous exams and medications to ensure it was not her heart they finally verified it was her gall bladder. It was so bad her liver was failing, she was turning yellow from it’s inability to work right. They admitted her to attempt to cool her gall bladder down for surgery. They didn’t get that chance because at the break of dawn on Saturday she took a turn for the worse and they took her to emergency surgery. The infection was now spreading to other parts of her body and they needed to get it out asap. What should have been a routine surgery suddenly became life saving. Her body in such a state from a crappy gall bladder. She didn’t get out until Wednesday. She spent her birthday and Mom’s birthday in the hospital. They finally found out exactly what all was going on and had to put her on a high powered antibiotic. Because her gall bladder couldn’t just go out that would be too simple. Her gall bladder also had E coli and some other major infection. So she got the extended stay to get everything working right again and the right antibiotic.
Then my lady I take care of took another fall, covering herself in bruises. Finally got her in to a decent orthopedist who took fluid off her bad knee and gave her a gel to help cushion it. That made a world of difference for her, but she still managed to fall yesterday morning so I rushed up to check on her. Bless her heart she is just having a rough go of it.
The good thing about this week has been our friends being here every night. Last night we went and hung at her house. It has been great because her oldest is Devin’s age and he has so few people to play with. This week they have been inseparable. So that is a good thing.. so that has been my week. How has yours been??
I have seen people (parents) show up at weddings and funerals dressed like they have no pride.. I think “the days of pride” are fading into the sunset..
Good heavens. I hope all goes well with your sister. That is awful. And such a proud moment with you and your son. Not to mention your hubba-hubba husband. ooh la la.
I’m sure the little old lady you work with adores you. Dazee Dreamer recently posted..I’m Thinking Of Fracking Hurting Her
Mercy! It certainly was one of those weeks. I hope this week is fairing to be more smooth for everyone. Super fast recovery for your sister. It’s amazing how quickly things go downhill in our bodies. Ducky recently posted..Monday Outlawz
Mom, wife, sister, daughter. I am covering them all. Lover of words and the power they have on the minds of those who read them. This is my place to spin my tales if you will. To bring you my reader right to my front porch swing with me. To share a laugh, a cry or to just sit quietly and be grateful for the beauty that is my hillside in Kentucky. Look around, don't be afraid. Check out the fridge for some home cooked leftovers, the bookshelf for some amazing books, and the photo albums for a glimpse at my life, my loves and my other passion, photography.
