My weekend the recap….

Friday of course is payday, meaning he gets paid and so do the bills. But I went shopping and took Doug, my oldest, with me. We stopped at Burger King and he saw it, The Bacon Sundae. Oh yes, you read that right, an ice cream sundae with vanilla soft serve, caramel, fudge and a piece of thick hardwood bacon stuck right in the center. Oh yeah and pieces of said bacon crumpled up in it as well. He is a teenage boy of the carnivore variety, bacon and sausage rank right up there with girls and sports. So I ordered him one. It. was. priceless. We get to the table and he digs deep into the ice cream avoiding the strip of bacon stuck straight out of the top. For a second he seems to be enjoying it, I am shocked. I said, ” Well you must not have any bacon in that bite.” To which he stuck out his tongue and showed me the bacon pieces that are in the bottom of the cup. Which nearly made me gag, thinking that was just combined with soft serve ice cream bleeech. It was then he made the face. The ewww face and proceeded to spit out the bite of the sundae. Apparently things were great UNTIL you get to the bacon GREASE and then all bets are off. OK I cannot even fathom why someone would want bacon in perfectly good ice cream. But I can also see if it was maybe hickory smoked and you have the spicy and the sweet but still. So he decided it wasn’t the best thing ever thought of at all. But then he cracked me up. In the middle of the Burger King he says, ” Mom I can totally see how someone at some point thought this was an awesome idea. Picture it, some drunk redneck sitting with his beer buddies. He sits up and says, GUYS I have an idea on how to make a MANLY sundae. Think about it, we aren’t manly drinking those frappes and things. Take a soft serve sundae with hot fudge and caramel, then , wait for it, add BACON.. wait wait . Don’t judge, let it sit for a minute huhhhhhhhhh huhhhhh not so crazy now am I?” I was nearly choking on my frappe. He even had the voices down for it. Yeah that’s my kid, totally my kid…

Saturday we spent the day at home for the most part. Working on the yard, cleaning the pool, mowing. We grilled out and then later had the fire pit going. It was cool enough that we could sit there and not be overly hot and just enjoy the peacefulness of the hillside. I took some awesome shots of the moon and Devin. During the day my sister brought her granddaughters over to play in the pool, so the boys were enlisted to babysit. Until their ride to the concert showed up, then Uncle Gene stepped in. He even got his own lovely fashion accessory compliments of ShayShay. Then my nephew came with his three little ones and Uncle Gene made his escape. The kids had a ball and were totally wiped out after a couple of hours.

Sunday we mainly killed time at home. Gene slept in and I did some laundry. Then my sister came over to pick up her bedroom furniture from Mom’s house. So we loaned them the truck and loaded them up. The rest of the night we have been lazy and killing time on Facebook. We would watch TV but our satellite started messing up last week. It would work for about an hour then reset the whole system, except it would never come back up. So when I called them we did a whole reformat of the receiver, which didn’t really help. Then it started just freezing saying it didn’t have a signal from the dish. We knew that wasn’t right because the other televisions were working just fine. So they are sending us a new receiver. By Friday it just quit altogether. So this house has been quiet except for the few times the kids watched Netflix. Dear Direct, I seriously think I should get a credit on my bill for crappy service for 7 days total since my receiver apparently won’t be here till tomorrow.Thanks..
