Sarcasm runs deep in this one it does.. Wordful Wednesday

This post is brought to you by the awesomeness of Seven Clown Circus and Parenting by Dummies. Go check them out, you will love them
We all know I have 3 boys..The older 2 are more like each other, though both would deny it to high heaven. Strong willed and wicked temper, they get that from Daddy ya know. What??
My youngest, however, is a whole other ball of wax.
He is my thinker. My reasoner. You can often find him looking at videos on Youtube that have subjects that range from game systems to solar systems.
As a little one he was my “Why” and “what if” child.
He would fire a barrage of questions at your faster than you could blink, leaving you dazed and confused.
Like the day we were going out to eat as a family. The trip was filled with his questions.
‘What if I jumped from the top of that mountain without a parachute? What if the wheels on the car were oblong instead of round? Why do we have speed limits?”
The list goes on and on.
I, in exasperation turned to him and said, ” What if your lips were made of velcro?”
He got quiet then smiled and said, ” Then I would make that annoying sound velcro makes every time I talk.”
Boom, that was it.
I was silent. Defeated by a then 8 year old.
This family prides itself on sarcasm and witty comebacks.
It is a lifestyle we have mastered and it isn’t often anyone can top us.
But the sarcasm force is strong with this one. He will get you before you even have a chance to think.
BOOM! Just like that.
Take the other day for example.
He and I were home alone, which is a nice thing. He is quiet and can spend hours watching science videos.
That part he did get from daddy lol.
So I am making rules posters for the house.  Since apparently everyone here was raised in barn, unbeknownst to me.
I said, as I was picking up 3 glasses, a bowl and plate from their playroom couch, “Good grief, I know this was Doug, he could have at least
put them in the sink.”
Devin, engrossed in a video on the computer,
never looks up and says,
“Well mom, you really can’t blame Doug, He cannot help if he was born with a lazy gene.”
I cracked up.
A lover of animals, THAT he did get from me.
He is even aware that for some reason the, hmmm, how to word this,
slightly challenged animals always find their way here.
They love him and he loves them, it is in his blood.
But even they are not immune to his wisecracks
Like our cat Foster, who regardless of how many times he gets in trouble for it
will NOT stay off the counters in the kitchen. I hate that.
Devin will walk up to him easy as you please, cause the cat is smart enough to RUN from us, just not enough to stay off counters.
He will grab him and wrap him in his arms talking to him like a person.
“Foster, you know you can’t do that, I know you’re special, but mom doesn’t care if you licked the windows too much as a kitten.”
I cracked up. Seriously??
Or when he and his brother Jesse were having a fight and the words special and slow got tossed around,
mainly because once again he had outwitted Jesse with words.
He looked Jesse in the eyes and said, “I am sorry you didn’t know the windows would roll up and down with a button.Next time I will
do it for you because licking them and trying to raise and lower them is probably too much for you.”
Yep. He is gonna be Just fine in life.
