So I have been painfully absent from blogging all this week. With good reason. They switched me to working mid shift.. 11 am to 7 pm. Let me say. I. Hate. That. Shift. It completely sucks. As many of you know I was out all of last week sick. So taking a week off completely threw me for a loop Monday. Suddenly I had to be reminded how to run a Comdata check. My mind just completely went blank suddenly. But before long I was back in the swing of things. But the day seemed to drag on FOREVER and EVER. I am just grateful tomorrow is my last day of having to work that shift EVER. Since I officially go to 3rd starting Monday. Let’s just say the drama queens of first have made this week hell on everyone who was forced to work with them. Even the manager has had his fill of their nonsense. Tuesday one went home early sick, Wednesday the other one did and the one who stayed took an hour lunch then whined that she never even got her 10′s *she had and then some*. Today the older one called in, probably still pouting from getting in trouble the day before. The younger one was in fine form. To add some fun to the mix let’s have the corporate guy from Frankfort show up unannounced on 3rd and find the store trashed, shelves and coolers unstocked and the deli a mess. Oh yeah that went over well. Everyone else was on pins and needles. I was cool. I looked at them and said are you doing YOUR job?? Then don’t worry about it. Finally I had it out with the GM because he was frustrated with the younger drama queen. She kept trying to leave the counter leaving me the only cashier, which is a HUGE no-no. Well after she clocked out for the day he sent the girl that was there with me to stock the cooler. Leaving me at the register with the other guy who came in at 2. We were slammed. Every time I would so much as walk around the counter to try and stock the front shelves here would come a bunch more people. Here it was nearly 330 and I had yet to get a lunch and barely got my 10 thanks to whiny pants. GM came out of the back blowing a gasket because I had not kept the deli up, and screamed at me. Not his brightest idea of the day. When the girl got out of the cooler I left the front on the search of him. Finding him in the cooler I waylaid into him. It took him by surprise. But he did apologize and tell me I was right, he had been wrong to assume and accuse me of slacking, he knew better. He sent me on my lunch FINALLY at 446 and then I didn’t have to go back to registers the rest of the night he had me putting up stock.
I took him to the office for a long chat. We are going to lose damn good workers if things keep going with the whiny pants like they have been. People are tired of busting their butts and not getting their breaks while the other 2 throw a hissy if they don’t. Yet they ignore the fact that they wandered away from the counter for an hour with no contact. Also no signs that they were ‘working’ in that absence. The younger whiner tried to eavesdrop when Randy told me to come to the deli and talk to him. So when I came back to the front she was quizzing me on what was going on and what was he talking about yada yada. I said if he wants you to know he will tell you. She assumed he was fussing about the girl who does the ordering cause she overheard her name and I shut that rumor down before it even got started. What I did feel bad about is the girl who works as hard as me walked in on me raking GM over the coals in the cooler and over heard me say that whiner was asking for answers on her tests from her. I quickly explained to her that I was not mad at her and appreciated how hard she worked up there with me and around the store. She told me she knew and was not mad at me, but she was fed up with the ‘favorites’ game. I am hoping that things do change. It is a kick ass place to work when the right people are in there.. just keeping them and dishing the drama.
So I am so sorry I have missed all the blogs and the like this week, hopefully my new shift will enable me to get back to the fun of reading all of ya’ll and keeping tabs. Cmonnnnn Friday momma needs the weekend off…
