This week the list is 10 ways you know we are in 2012..
1. Cell phones are everywhere. Gone are the days of payphones on every corner and in many places people have replaced their land lines with their cell phone.
2. Computers are in nearly every household.
3. Seeing the game systems that came out when I was a teen and considered top of the line in graphics be labeled as classics.
4. Realizing that the things I thought were fantasy are becoming reality, like portable computers.
5. Who needs emergency flares? Lost somewhere pull out your smart phone and find where you are thanks to GPS and other navigational features.
6. Realizing that what were considered ‘old wives tales’ and country cures held some truth, with a whole lot less side effects than ‘modern medicine’
7. Lawsuits over frivolous things, you know like hot coffee from McDonalds and people being awarded millions of dollars. That wouldn’t have made it into a court before. It is called COMMON SENSE and we are losing it slowly but surely.
8. Family dinners at the table are making a comeback, why did they ever leave??
9. People are moving closer to family for support and fellowship.. again why did we ever think not having that support was okay??
10. Women building empires from the comfort of home through platforms of social media….

Oh the lawsuits one makes me crazy – stupid people should not be awarded monetarily for doing something, well, stupid. The only gaming system when I was a teen was Atari pong! I’m old…

That’s funny because I just started doing Sunday dinners again and wondered why they ever went away too.
I also think daily of why I moved away from my family. They’re only 45 miles away, but sometimes that is very far….

Game graphics are downright scary these days! I remember when Pong came in (yes I’m that old)…albiet the graphics were hardly considered top-of-the-line until Ms Pacman came along.

Seeing how far technology and electronics have come during my lifetime is pretty amazing to me.

Great thinking list to bring us back to reality. It’s such a crazy change from when I was a kid. I really miss those days when cell phones didn’t exist…even though my world is bound by mine now.
I’m glad about that family dinners around the table comeback!
And about that McDonald’s hot coffee thing… I took a law course in college and we talked about it… it was a poor elderly lady who was given the cup without the top secured and it was WAAAY too hot – to the point that the skin from her legs and groin peeled away through her clothes and she was severely injured. I know the settlement sounded extreme, but I think the damage was far worse than most people were aware. I just always remember that when someone mentions that case, ha ha!
